Week one went well at new place. I have my machine all setup and I am already starting to code on defects. It is nice to already know the applications and be able to jump in.
No big weekend plans, MJ will be coming in tonight from Montreal so will be nice to see her for the weekend. She heads to Florida on Sunday for two weeks. Her new job will keep her on the move quite a bit.
First day yesterday went well, however, I did have 2 beers after work with old coworker friends. 2 isn't bad, and on the way home, I thought about stopping at the bar by the bus station and saying hello to those people (my regular place) but decided not to and just go home, so that was good. However, I now need to start the 30 day stoppage thing over again. This may take a while to get to thirty, ha ha. Day 1 today :)
I am getting caught up on what I used to do here as well as getting the machine setup with all the pieces I will need. However, I was already in meetings talking about defects on first day, so that is a good thing. I am ready to start coding again, which is what I missed from Learning Express. Just give me a ton of defects or new functionality and let me go to town on them.
John (boss) said yesterday that I can do overtime as soon as I want. I need to take a week to get back in to the swing of things but could possible start doing more than 40 hours next week. As long as I am all set up and ready to go. I won't do more than 40 until I have dived in to working completely. I did start to think about code and computer related things last night as I was falling a sleep. A good sign.
I didn't get up quite early enough today. I made it to work in plenty of time and I caught the bus I needed to make, but I didn't do enough around the house. I skipped doing this blog (just got to work now), pushup and situps, and I skipped the cat's litter. I will do it tonight, so they will be fine and there are 4 boxes, but its more about me getting in the daily habit of doing a set list of things. Need to stop the laziness. I'd like to get up 45 mins earlier and actually do a language lesson in the morning, I think working the mind first thing would be good. However, even with just 2 beers, I won't get up as well in the morning. I used to drink all night and then do a full day the next day and not think twice about it. Not any more :)
So I wasn't too productive yesterday. I did a few things in the morning but then I went in to NYC and got my hair twisted by some new guy. He did a pretty good job and much better than the last girl on maitanance but I still think MJ did better ha ha. The dread guy, who only does dreads for a living was very impressed with MJ's ability to take care of my dreads and how she just learned from youtube videos :) When scheduling the hair appointment, the guy says "I don't smoke or sell, but we are very pot friendly, so if you want to bring some, we have a room for smoking" You don't hear that every day when setting up a hair appointment :) He was the first gay hippie I have met, his long time husband came in for a bit and wasn't a hippie at all, was a computer guy, so we talked for a bit. After the hair appointment, I came home and didn't get a whole lot done :(
Productive today and about done with the things on my list. I have a schedule made out for the week so I can stay productive. Day 4 of not drinking alcohol, I am going for 30 days. Both money and I need to lose a few pounds, so cutting out the beer will help on both areas. We'll see after 30, I need to quit smoking and in order to do that, I can not be drinking for a while.
Start new/old job again tomorrow. I have the business bank account set up, I have the needed liablity insurance setup, I think that is all I need. I didn't get medical yet, but I will at some point, its on the big master to-do list. Once I start making better cash and have the roommates, I will make a debt to-do list to see which things need paid off first and have a running total so that I have an end point :)
So Wednesday was my last day at Learning Express. I am going back to consulting and using Ken York LLC. I just need to do things right the 2nd time around and get on payroll from the beginning :) Good news from Schep, looks like the boat will sell and get a little money from that. I have roommates coming in September 1st, this will help with things as well. I was productive today, finally, I need to really stay on top of things for the next year. I should be able to get out of debt in 18-24 months and then be able to leave NYC and do some traveling.
Today I did Bills and got caught up on that, set up the business bank account, got liabilty insurance for the business and some other things around the house. I am going to wait 3-4 until I get medical, so that I can pay it out of the business account instead of personal. I did find out that Cobra can be retro active for up to 6 months if something were to happen to me before I get my own medical.
I should have some news in next few days or so about job.
Here are some things I need to do and get done this summer:
I had a good weekend, I read some and got a few things done around the house. I had a single glass of wine on Saturday night, thought about getting more, but decided not. I would have smoked cigs if I did and also can not afford any more drinking. That is one of the worse part about when I go out, the money I spend and I don't think about it. So no more.
I am home today, took a personal day, need to run up to the bank here in a minute and transfer some money from PNC over to BOA and also pay bills. but first I grabbed some new music for the iPhone. Oh, maybe iPhone this week, not sure. My current one is getting pretty banged up, the battery is terrible and hardly holds a charge. We will see.
Playlist June 21 2010
I want to check out http://www.phonegap.com/, looks very interesting. A way to develop for all the different cell phones instead of just focusing on one or the other.
When I go to write my own site, some key things:
No plans for the weekend. I do want to start working on a redraft of this website and want to focus on a couple different programming areas. I want to use a coldfusion framework called Coldbox and set up proper objects, I want to have jQuery and ajax set up and used properly. Basically I want this site to be a sample of my code and done properly. It will take me a month or so but have to start sometime. I need to layout some thing on paper first and try to set goals.
I also need my hair twisted and think MJ will help with that. She actually does a better job than the girl I initially had doing it.
I also need to get back in to yoga this weekend. I am doing good with not having any soda or alcohol but damn, could go for something today, glad it is Friday.
Finished book 4 of Trueblood series last night and started book 5 this morning on the bus. They are good easy reads, enjoying them.
I am going to try and preregister for an iphone4 in a couple weeks and see if I cna get one on the 24th when they come out. Exciting, new phone!
Weekend went well with MJ's family in town, except three dogs in the house was a bit loud :) I went to the mall on Saturday with everyone and MJ's dad and I would just sit out side each store while everyone shopped. I read and he just relaxed. They ended up going into Manhattan after shopping and MJ's dad and I just went home and relaxed. Sunday they went for more shopping and I stayed home and did some errands around the house, mostly read. I am on book 4 of the trueblood books, there are 10 out total so far.
Another week at work, fun fun.
iPhone4 is announced!!!
MJ's family will get in late tonight, around midnight or so, and then leaving on Sunday. They will all go shopping tomorrow, I think I will pass on that trip. I will stay at the house and get food ready. Probably just going to grill out some hamburgers, make some corn on the cob, some potatoes, etc. Should be fun cooking a simple meal solo.
I've been playing this silly Iphone game called Kingdoms at War. playing too much though ha ha, so slowly lowering the amount of time. I have meant some cool people through the game though. The one guy and his wife are in NYC this week, he came in for work and she met him later. Going to dinner somewhere in the city with on Sunday night. Plus Annie is great as well as Belle :)
I am a dumbass and took roommates keys with me to work cause I borrowed his car the night before, so I had to leave at lunch to get him his keys. He is only in town about 2 days a month these days.
MJ's family is coming in to town tomorrow. Her one cousin needs to get a dress for prom, so heading to NYC :) I think about 7 people are coming to stay for the weekend, should be fun.
Might be tight getting to yoga tonight, MJ is taking a dance class and need to see what time she gets the car back. I am hoping to make it, I want to go as many days as I can before missing.
I just started back in Yoga yesterday, today was day two. I have quit smoking, chewing, and smoking (except a few occasions when drink too much) and now I am doing a 30-60 day no drinking stint to get in shape a little. I need that. I have traveled a little, not too much, and buried myself financially again :) I am good at doing that and then will pull self out. This needs to be last time once I get out, which I will.
I will try to get a few recent pictures up and I need to start doing the daily photo again. and working on the new site! I need to get my resume up online and I want to do the new site in Coldbox, which is a coldfusion framework. I have about 75% done but need motivation to finish and then to bring over all the data.

Abbott is still doing better, but not quite there. I think his levels are still a little low, go back to the vet in 2 weeks. I went to dentist yesterday, not too bad (for not going in a while). The dentist had a heavy russian accent, so I either have a cavity or I have an old filling that needs replaced, but either way, I have to go back next monday for some work.
I am heading to Conneaut Lake on Thursday night after work. Big 15 year reunion on Saturday, but not sure how many people will make it. I know that Len is out of town (but might see him Friday) and I know Tim, Justin, and Drexler are coming. It should be a good time. I haven't been drinking much lately, just been doing other things, but it will be beer time this weekend :)
Abbott is doing much better already! Instantly stopped peeing next to litter once I started him on shots and all wet food diet (Wellness). Started to put weight back on, starting to clean himself again, and even playing a little bit. Big relief, hopefully when see vet in 3 weeks, sugar levels are getting balanced out.
So when I visited Coy in Hollywood in 2003, I went to Jimmy Kimmel show by myself, he had to work. I met some Indian dude from the UK who was traveling the world after college and before starting work. Ended up BSing with this guy and he was heading to vegas the next day, and so were Coy and I. So this dude rode with us to Vegas, actually was nice cause Coy was sleeping the whole time. We dropped him off at a hostile in Vegas and never heard from him again. 6 years later, he still had my email and just wrote to see how I was doing. Crazy, 6 years later and he still remembered, pretty cool.
So I now have a high maintanence cat. They did a ultra sound yesterday and did not see any tumors or anything, but some swelling, especially with liver and pancreas. They still don't know for sure, something else could be causing the diabetes, but for now, just starting treatment for that.
twice a day Abbott now needs a shot and has to eat before hand. I also have to dip paper in his pee daily to measure the different levels and make sure he is 'balanced'. Food is now all wet, wellness brand.
But on a good note, this morning was the first morning that there wasn't pee on the plastic next to the litter, so that is a good sign. Tonight I get to follow Abbott around until he pees and try to dip these paper strips in it. Should be a blast.
Weekend trips just became a hassle, will have to get a cat sitter to come twice a day to give shots :(
